Dr. Nikolaos Afratis is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Department of Agricultural Development, Agri-food and Management of Natural Resources of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has previously worked as senior postdoctoral researcher in Weizmann Institute of Science, in Israel (Laboratory of Prof. Irit Sagi) and in Biotech Research & Innovation Centre, in Copenhagen (Laboratory of Prof. John Couchman).

He has extensive research experience in pathophysiology of extracellular matrix in diseases correlated with fibrosis and cancer. He has more than 20 publications in international peer reviewed journals (h-Index 17). He was co-editor of the book “Methods in Molecular Biology-Collagen” of Springer Publishing group and he is owner of 3 international patents.

He is European Registered Toxicologist (ERT).
